Viewing Sent Messages

To view the Outbox and find a message, please click Outbox from the lefthand navigation. Once there, use the gray Search Box that is above the list of messages to find:

  • A phone number
  • A contact by name
  • Or a group you may have sent a message to

This can be done for the Scheduled Texts tab along the top as well. Click the Filter button on the right side of the search bar above the list of messages, to narrow your results by:

  • Date Range (to – from)
  • Type (MMS, SMS, or Chat)
  • Whether the message was sent to a group or individual


Understanding the AT&T Short Code SMS/MMS Code of Conduct

On October 17, 2018 AT&T released an updated Code of Conduct for Short Code SMS / MMS to help short code users understand what is and is not acceptable usage. As you can imagine, this generated a good amount of questions. Not to worry though, Bitovation Corp is working with AT&T who provided an FAQ to help subscribers understand what the new Code of Conduct means.

Highlights from the updated AT&T Code of Conduct:

  • Certain content is prohibited on common-use short codes. This includes short-term financial offers and other high-risk campaigns. These campaigns will be subject to termination on Jan 1st 2019 if they are found to be running on non-approved channels.
  • 10-Digit Long codes (10DLC) will provide businesses with a personalized way to send Application-to-Person (A2P), or Business-to-Person SMS communication. AT&T is working on a commercial 10DLC program to recognize long codes as a legitimate and sanctioned A2P SMS channel. Until this program is commercially available, common-use short codes will operate as usual.
  • Common-use short codes managed by resellers are almost exclusively responsible for all unwanted messaging, phishing, and malware. The updates to AT&T’s Code of Conduct are designed to mitigate campaigns producing unwanted messaging.
  • Common-use short codes will require content to be sent in a single vertical, Bitovation Corp has been exercising this practice for long a time.

The update about common-use short codes is certainly raising some eyebrows. The good news is that Bitovation Corp is working directly with the SMS industry to preserve the ubiquity of SMS. At this time, prohibited programs have been banned from Bitovation Corp short codes for over a year and we continue to work to ensure traffic is segmented by vertical. In other words, unless your traffic directly violates industry best practices, there is nothing to worry about. The AT&T Texting FAQ aims to bring some calm and clarity to the issue.

Can I send out a message longer than 160 characters?

During your free trial or within any Bitovation Corp plan, you can send what’s called an MMS for a set number of credits depending on your plan. MMS (or image messaging) provides not only the option to use up to 1,600 characters per text but also the option to include a picture directly in the text, and at no extra cost.

If you are U.S. customer, the system will automatically prompt you to send your message as a MMS if you go over the 160 character count. Canadian customers cannot send MMS messages, and therefore cannot send a message longer than 160 characters.

Can I pick the short code/phone number it comes from?

You cannot pick the short code from which your messages come as our system utilizes a common-use short code to send out texts. You do have the option to rent one of our ten-digit numbers but texts can only be sent to one contact at a time. If using the Short Code to send group texts, however, we always recommend you put your business/organization’s name in the Company Name line so that it comes up at the top of the text and in (parenthesis), like a header.

Forwarding Messages To A URL

To forward all your messages to a URL:

  1. From the left navigation panel, click Advanced Features
  2. Next, click API.
  3. Under Forwarding API, check Enable Forwarding and enter the URL you want to forward all your messages to in the Forward Incoming Messages To This URL field.
  4. Click Save Changes.

All replies to your inbox will be forwarding to the URL you specify. The Bitovation Corp SMS Server will push received SMS messages by making an HTTP GET to the provided URL.

from – 10 digit phone number message originated from.
message – the body of receiving message that was texted in by the originating phone number.

Example Request Sent:

Send unique request: Check this if you have both keyword URL and forwarding URLs setup and you do not wish to receive duplicate message forwards.
Wait for response from my server: If you require an incoming reply to have an auto-reply, select this option. We will send this response as an auto-reply via HTTP GET and charge 2 credits accordingly.

Please note: If you have a keyword and both the keyword URL and forwarding URLs are setup with the same URL, you should click “Send Unique Request” so we only send one GET request.

Deleting Inbox And Sent Messages

To delete inbox messages:

  1. From your inbox, select the checkbox next to the messages you want to delete.
  2. Click Delete. A warning message will appear.
  3. Click OK.


To delete sent messages:

  1. From the Sent Text page, select the checkbox next to the messages you want to delete.
  2. Click Delete. A warning message appears.
  3. Click OK.


Important: You cannot access messages once you delete them.

My Message Won’t Send Correctly

My sent messages do not appear correctly

Bitovation Corp only supports sending plain text, since certain characters are rendered differently on different mobile telephones. Any character copied from an outside source can appear incorrectly. If you are copying and pasting from an outside source (such as a Word file), retype it manually, because there can be hidden characters. You can test this by sending the message to your own phone.

Also, handsets render characters differently, so you can try changing your phone settings.

We allow the following characters: a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and these special characters: .,:;!?()~=+-_\/@$#&%

There are four issues that can cause problems:

  1. Bitovation Corp relies on third party systems to deliver messages to and from your Bitovation Corp account. Things like network delays, cell sites, and carrier delays can all contribute to problems with deliveries. Because we use these systems, we cannot make any guarantees on delivery times.
  2. The user’s wireless carrier might have blocked short codes. Learn more about short codes. They can call their carrier and ask them to allow short codes on their account.
  3. Pre-paid phone plans typically do not allow sending or receiving messages from short codes. Consult your mobile telephone carrier for more information.
  4. The message text may be clipped or not coming in at all.


Important: Bitovation Corp does not guarantee delivery or timely delivery. Bitovation Corp is an online application that enables users to store contacts, organize contacts in groups, send and receive SMS, and use keywords on our common-use short code. However, we do not deliver your messages to the handsets. We only deliver your messages to the wireless carriers. You are paying us for the use of our application and sending messages through our gateway to the carriers’ gateways. You are not paying us for the delivery of messages, because we do not own nor operate the carriers’ gateways.
